Time Is Ticking: Why Your Dream Gown Can’t Wait

Did you know you only have 30 minutes?

While things are not as dire as the viral Tiktok audio suggests, they certainly aren't as relaxed as many Brides think when it comes to your wedding dress timeline. Here are five reasons why you shouldn't wait too long when it comes to choosing your dream gown:

1) Gowns normally take up to 6-7 months to make

From the time your order has been placed, to your final fitting, there is around half a year's time for your dream dress to be assembled stitch by stitch to fit you perfectly. For example, brides looking to be married in December, would have needed to order by April or May at the latest, so that the gown can arrive a month before the wedding for that final fitting.

2) Your Dream gown might not be off-the-rack-ready

If you're lucky, your sample gown will fit you just right and a off-the-rack-purchase may be available to take home straight away on a tight timeline, although most of the time this is rarely the case.

3) Alterations and Customisations take time

Things like train extension, shortening of hems, off-shoulder straps and size adjustments are one of the many reasons why time for alterations and customisations take time to complete. There is generally an extra 4 weeks on top of the usual 6 month lead time to allow for these details.

4) Avoid stressed and rushed decisions

The last thing you want is a rushed decision and more stress on top of the wedding preparation craze, so it's best to start dress shopping 9-12 months before the big day!!

5) Rush Orders cost more

Depending on how soon you need your gown, rush orders for 3-4 months generally cost around 110-180
